Domino

Oh how I miss going to the mailbox and seeing that my favorite magazine has arrived. I don't get excited about the mail very often, but I sure got excited to receive my Domino magazine. What was it about that magazine that was so wonderful? I think it was the crazy unique and artistic quality......whatever, (sigh) because it is no longer with us. Luckily, I still have the Domino book to pour over. There are so many great decorating ideas in there. There are SO MANY things I would love to try, love to copy, and love to apply to my home decor, maybe someday I'll be able to redecorate.... Oh well. A girl can dream. A girl can plan. And a girl can change her decorating mind as often as she likes, right?

DOMINO: THE BOOK OF DECORATING by Deborah Needleman, Sara Ruffin Costello, and Dara Caponigro
Canadian House & Home magazine, as many blogs have suggested, is a good substitute. It is not, however, a replacement. I still do enjoy the fun ideas though.

Ina Garten's Amazing Home

REALLY? This home is a dream and her life is a dream! This is for real? Reality for the "Barefoot Contessa"..... REALLY? The decor! The property! The architecture! Oh... and the FOOD! :)

This is the perfect pantry

The "Great Room" and Kitchen are amazing! I will say this again....I love white kitchens!
These pictures are from a write-up on her in House Beautiful.
On a shady side street of East Hampton, New York, Ina Garten built her "barn," inspired by the simple country buildings of Belgium and designed by architect Frank Greenwald. Ina loves to entertain outdoors, and "all my guests love to sit on the stone sitting wall before dinner, having a glass of wine," she says. After dinner, everyone gathers around the big iron fire bowl to roast marshmallows and make s'mores.

ELIZA

I heart magazines! I used to be a big book reader, and although I still love books, I find that with the kids, it is hard for me to really "dive" into a book lately! I'm hoping to take advantage of my time this week, though, and try to finish the book I've been working on for some time.... oh! how a moment on the beach, with a book, and a pina colada sounds dreamy right now!

Well, magazines have become my thing lately. A couple of months ago, I discovered a great new find! ELIZA. It is a unique, modest and modern (i know those two words are not usually seen together often) newer magazine. They highlight women's interests, featuring fashion and beauty information, current issues, and real life problem solving, all while keeping perspective on what's really important in life. I especially appreciate the artistic element of their photography and enjoy the little history bits throughout the magazine. It is definitely worth a look.
